Okay, who's up for some light weekend reading? By which I mean dozens of pages written by JRR Tolkien about fairy stories. On Fairy Stories (full text in PDF) is a lengthy essay in which The Man Himself he defends "Fairy Stories" as being worth reading.
Thank you for asking my opinion; I'm not sure it's worth much. It has been a long time since I've read it, so don't expect a lot here. First, history seldom proves theories of literature right or wrong.

The book includes previously unpublished versions of the essay, rejected passages, as well as a critical study of the history and writing of the text.
